System Engineer

Position Summary:
Define, document and maintain system interfaces within the NSG. Candidate will use their familiarity of with Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), including standards, implementation, and governance and assist the customer in moving to a service based architecture. Their knowledge of SOA Service Life Cycle Model and Service Contracts will be critical. Successful candidate will be considered the team expert for various services and point to point interfaces. Define, interpret and document complex system interfaces between systems in a forward operating location and large enterprise wide applications. Determine integration into legacy and transformational work flows for NGA systems. Perform interface analysis and engineering to determine best method for services to integrate along with viable cost and schedule options. Determine impacts, coordinate TEMs and develop change pages in support of RFC. Coordinate and lead TEMs to review and validate content of interface artifacts via ICWG and RFC lead. Perform duties associated with Document and Technical Custodian for “To Be” interface artifacts. Candidate should be comfortable working with a diverse set of contractors and all grades of customer personnel. Candidate will need experience with geospatial intelligence systems. Candidate should have knowledge of relevant interface and standards technologies. Candidate should have knowledge of NGA deployed systems as well as NGA interface documents. Candidate will need to attend and brief engineering and architecture review boards. Candidate will serve as a lead member simultaneously supporting multiple system and segment interfaces between deployed and non-deployed systems. Candidate will coordinate with the SEIN System Architecture (SA) team and tools, CONOPS and Development organizations to ensure consistency between the interface requirements, architecture artifacts, and COTS products selected for implementation.

Additional responsibilities include identifying and managing risks, developing and maintaining schedules, assisting with staffing, and preparing and delivering written presentations in support of customer meetings and interface TEMs. Extensive writing and oral communications ability is required to define and document interface requirements.

Position Qualifications:
• TS/SCI security clearances
• Bachelor’s Degree (or better) in a technical area or equivalent experience
• Minimum of 6 years of System Engineering experience related to interfaces (methodologies and data definitions), requirements and architecture
• Strong interpersonal, problem solving and multi-tasking skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and Windows XP
• Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills
• Knowledge of the NGA organization and programs
• Hands-on COTS integration or custom hardware or software development experience
• Experience with technology relevant to web portals, federated data stores and/or on-line collaboration
• Knowledge of SLA

• Advanced technical degree
• 2-6 years of experience with NSG system interface specifications, Knowledge of NGA baseline control processes and procedures
• Experience with geospatial intelligence systems and/or existing legacy/heritage NSG segments, primarily NES, PMAA, STIL but also NIL, GIMS/IDM, NGDS, IDS-D, CIL, NGA Gateway, GIMS/GKB and GIMS/KPE
• Experience with WSDL
