Engineer III
Sterling, VA

Secret Clearance Required

The Engineer 3 will be responsible for leading the development and future installations of a shipboard training communications system that interfaces with shipboard organic interior and tactical communications systems, as well as a SIPR training and simulation IP network to allow for training simulation. Familiar with researching, developing, designing, and testing electronic components, products, and systems by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Relies on experience and judgment to include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Designs test control apparatus and equipment, determines procedures for testing products and directs engineering personnel in fabrication of test control apparatus and equipment.

• Directs field operations and maintenance of electronic installations.

• Evaluates operational systems and recommends design modifications to eliminate causes of malfunctions or changes in system requirements.

• Uses computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks.

Supervisory Responsibilities;
Under general direction, may manage technical support positions on installation activities. May be responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. May also directly supervises non-supervisory employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Must be able to prioritize and plan work activities; use time efficiently; plan for additional resources; set goals and objectives; organize or schedule other people and their tasks; develop realistic action plans. Education and/or Experience;
HS plus ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience to include AS degree with eight years or BS with six years related field experience.

Language Skills;
Must be able to effectively communicate with a diverse and highly knowledgeable technical team of co-workers, managers and subcontractors and provide overall direction of these support personnel. Must be comfortable leading client facing technical presentations. Will be required to communicate regularly with and receive instruction from with the Program Manager and provide him/her with detailed status of all taskings.

Computer Skills;
• Networking and knowledge base experience in switching, routing, ACLs, 802.1x, enterprise architectures, multicaset
• Virtualization / VDI implementation experience and/or knowledge base
• SIP VoIP experience (CISCO Call Manager)
• Linux OS
• Autocad and/or Visio
• Passive Optical Network (PON) experience and knowledge is a Plus
• Army/Navy Logistics product support is a plus
• Internet, Inventory, Project Management, Spreadsheet, Word Processing software knowledge

20% travel as required.
